2012 Toyota Avensis: official details, photos and specs
As expected, Toyota unveiled today at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show the all-new 2012 Avensis, a revised model that promises to offer spaciousness, practicality and better fuel efficiency. Toyota says that the new model comes with an improved 2.0 litre D-4D turbodiesel engine delivering 124 bhp and 119 g/km CO2 emissions. Still, if you want more power, the 2.2 D-4D is available and delivers 148bhp. If you want a petrol engine, you will have to choose the 145bhp 1.8-litre Valvematic unit.
All engines are mated to six-speed manual transmissions as standard but they can be equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission as an option. Toyota also offers the Multidrive S continuously variable transmission with steering wheel mounted paddle shifts for the 1.8 and 2.0-litre petrol engines. Regarding the design, we can easily see that the vehicle features a revised front fascia that offers a more dynamic look.
The new Avensis comes with new headlamps featuring daytime running lights, a lower bumper featuring a strong, protruding centre section that houses a large air intake, as well as with crisp detailing of integral foglamp housings. At the rear, we can see a new bumper, redesigned lamp clusters and foglamps as well as a new chrome trim for the licence plate. Moreover, the 16-inch wheels have now new-design covers, while the 17-inch Fuji alloys have new colour and machine facings. The other 17 and 18-inch wheels available for Avensis gain a new, darker finish treatment. The interior now benefits from higher perceived quality across the range, with upgraded upholstery offered in new colours. Moreover, the Avensis gets the Toyota Touch and Go Plus, the most advanced yet affordable touch-screen satellite navigation system in the D-segment.[via : 4wheelsnews]
